The message at church today, of course, was directly related to what I've been dealing with in terms of trusting God, leaning not on my own understanding and allowing the Holy Spirit to direct my life rather than trying to convince myself that if I just have stronger will power I can push through. The number of "Hi God" moments like this I've had in my life...well, it's a lot. Pastor Gary also talked about newer Christians pairing with more mature members of the church for discipleship purposes and I think that's a great idea especially for the time that I'll be spending here. I haven't taken advantage of the discipleship opportunities God put in my life in Boston in the form of Kim and Jenn, and even other women in my life groups in CCC and I don't want to miss the opportunity here too.
After church, Mom, Angie, Alicia and I went to Rowdy Joe's for an awesome lunch and fellowship and fun. It was fantastic just to talk about everything going on in our lives and get such spiritual support. I really needed it. Then I came home and took on my room and my suitcases...and I mostly won. I am all unpacked and I completely rearranged my room, somewhat breaking my sister's desk in the process. However, I did manage to block all but one outlet in the room, which could be a problem. Or maybe I'll just buy a surge protector. Also, I need more hangers.
To Do This Week:
- Go to the beach and get some SUN!
- Meet with Pastor Gary
- Find a counselor/therapist to talk to while I'm here (a requirement of medical withdrawal)
- Alert the neighborhood with babysitting-age children that I'm available
- Decide whether or not to accept a personal assistant job offer
- Talk to Nikki about the after-school program
- Start attending 20-30 year old small group
- Apply to join the church worship team (read: band)
- Do laundry
- Work out every day! (which I've done so far, except today, but moving around my room kinda counts...right?)
Big part of my goal for being home: not sit on my butt too much (unless it's intentional spending time with God). I think I'm doing that well. :)
