Barbara Ann???

Some song that has Beach Boy-sounding lyrics that include the word "run" repeated several times just popped into my head. I thought it would be relevant since I went running today and that's what my photo of the day is, but I couldn't come up with more than just "run" so I went for the next Beach Boy song to pop into my head. I look it up to determine how to correctly spell "boberan", which I thought was the name of the song, only to learn that it is, in fact, called Barbara Ann!! Who knew?? Mind blown.

Anyway, I ran today. Yay! But I was in a rush so I didn't stretch my feet before or after. Anyone who ever saw how many dang times I had to get out of the pool to stretch my feet during a work out and especially one involving fins, knows that that was stupid of me. My feet cramp up really easily. I have no idea why. I really have to put some time into stretching them before I work out or I really regret it. But I got off work a few minutes later than I wanted and then traffic was a few minutes slower than I would have liked and so if I was gonna be able to run, shower, and make it to small group, I had to move quickly!

I did the c25k week 1 day 3 workout, and it was great. I'm trying to push myself to go a little faster in the running section every other time. I also am speeding up the brisk walk. Anyway, it was great, and then I got cleaned up and dressed and grabbed some banana bread to eat on my way, slipped on flip flops and went OW!

Seriously, the moment I stepped into them. This is not a complaint, it is a fact. You know how when you're wearing flip flops, your feet have to sort of clench to keep them in place? Well, I should not have worn flip flops. Because after running, which I don't do much of, my feet just wanted to chill, not clench. My right foot was practically spasm-ing from the cramping.

I stretched it out as I walked down the stairs and to my car, thinking it would just wear off. I was wrong. I got in the car, stretched it more...still there. I started driving the car, trying every different possible way of putting my foot down on the pedal so that it wouldn't hurt but I could not get it to relax. I started using my left foot to brake and at lights I picked up my right foot and rubbed and stretched it.

I got about 5 minutes from my house before I decided there was no way I could drive like this. It wasn't safe. My foot was spasm-ing on the gas pedal and it was way too painful. So I pulled over into a parking lot and sat there for 30 minutes stretching and massaging it. I missed small group, which was super lame, but better that than getting into an accident on my way.

Well, this was supposed to be short but today was an interesting day. Work was awesome too. True story.

Day 30 - 4/19/12
c25k Week 1 Day 3

Ok, so it took me two weeks to do week one, don't judge! Last week was a little crazy, I think I get a pass. But I'm back now baby! I told Lillian I'm working out, so now I have to or she'll beat me up. She can do that now.
